This short trek into the mystical Rwenzori Mountains—also known as the “Mountains of the Moon”—offers a thrilling adventure for hikers who want to experience Uganda’s spectacular highlands without committing to the full-length climb. Over three days, you will enjoy breathtaking views, diverse vegetation zones, unique wildlife, and the fresh mountain air that makes Rwenzori trekking unforgettable.
Trip Details
Day 1: Arrival & Hike to Sine Camp (2,596m)
- Begin your adventure with a briefing at the trailhead in Kilembe (1,450m).
- Start trekking through lush montane forest filled with monkeys, birds, and beautiful plant life.
- Ascend gradually to Sine Camp (2,596m), located beside the Enock Falls with stunning views of the forest canopy.
- Dinner and overnight at Sine Camp.
Hiking time: 5–6 hours
Day 2: Sine Camp – Kalalama Camp (3,147m) – Return to Sine Camp
- After breakfast, hike further into the bamboo and heather vegetation zones.
- Reach Kalalama Camp (3,147m), where you can enjoy sweeping views of the Rwenzori ranges.
- Have lunch and explore the surrounding flora, including giant heather and lobelia plants.
- Descend back to Sine Camp for dinner and overnight.
Hiking time: 6–7 hours
Day 3: Descent to Kilembe & Departure
- After breakfast, begin your descent through the forest trail.
- Spot more wildlife and enjoy the enchanting natural scenery.
- Arrive back at Kilembe, marking the end of your trek.
- Transfer to your next destination or continue with other Uganda safari adventures.
