Introduction
This 4-day Uganda tour visits Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s oldest wildlife reserves. Murchison is considered a premier safari destination in the country. The Victoria Nile flows through the park, plunging through a narrow gorge to form the remarkable Murchison Falls, the park’s namesake. Also called Kabalega Falls, Murchison Falls descends about 45m into the river after a series of rapids. Below the cascading falls, the mighty Nile expands into a wide, calm river flowing into Lake Albert. Murchison Falls National Park offers diverse experiences – you’ll encounter African wilderness, savannah, forest, wildlife, birds, primates, and the Nile River.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: We drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, 5 hours from Kampala via Masindi.
Inside the park, we enjoy a game drive en route to the falls’ summit. We have excellent chances of spotting Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Leopards, Warthogs, Lions, Aardvarks, Chimpanzees, Pangolins, Civets, Buffalo, Hyenas, Crocodiles, Oribi, Patas Monkeys, Uganda Kobs, and diverse birdlife.
At the falls’ top, we marvel at the Nile River compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 7-meter canyon, dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar to create Murchison Falls. This spectacle often leaves you in awe.
Day 2: Game Drive in the Park
We embark on a 4-hour game drive around the Buligi tracks, stretching between the Victoria and Albert Niles, down to the Nile-Lake Albert Delta. Most park wildlife and birdlife can be viewed here, including Jackals, Hyenas, Antelope, Elephants, Uganda Kob, Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Buffalo herds, Bushbucks, Warthogs, and Waterbucks. In the afternoon, we take a 3-hour boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the falls’ base. We’ll observe diverse birds and wildlife, including Buffalo herds, Hippo schools, large Nile crocodiles, and Elephants. Water birds like Fish Eagles and various Storks are plentiful.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive
We enjoy a sunrise game drive to the delta, searching for Lions, Leopards, and rare Shoebill Storks. We’ll also see abundant wildlife like Giraffes, Jackson Hartebeests, Kobs, Elephants, Buffalo, and plenty of Hippos and Nile Crocodiles.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive
