Day 1: Arrival in Kasese – Trek to Nyakalengija

  • Arrive in Kasese, where your guide and porters will meet you.
  • Transfer to the Rwenzori trailhead at Nyakalengija.
  • After a briefing, start trekking through montane forest toward Nyakalengija Camp.
  • Overnight camping amidst the serene forest environment.

Day 2: Nyakalengija – Mubuku Base Camp

  • Trek through dense montane forest with towering trees, orchids, and birds.
  • Cross rivers and enjoy the lush greenery as you ascend gradually.

  • Prepare for the more challenging high-altitude sections ahead.

Day 3: Mubuku Base – Bujuku Hut (3,400m)

  • Begin your ascent through bamboo and giant heather zones, where the vegetation becomes increasingly alpine.

  • Reach Bujuku Hut, set against stunning mountain vistas.
  • Afternoon at leisure to acclimatize.

Day 4: Bujuku Hut – John Matte Hut (3,810m)

  • Rest and prepare for the summit push in the coming days.

Day 5: John Matte Hut – Elena Hut (4,445m)

  • Short acclimatization walks in the area.

Day 6: Elena Hut – Summit of Mount Stanley – Return to Elena Hut

  • Early start for a summit attempt of Mount Stanley (4,890m), the highest peak in the Rwenzori Mountains.
  • Trek through glaciers, snowfields, and rocky ridges, with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.
  • After summit, descend back to Elena Hut for rest.

Day 7: Elena Hut – Bujuku Hut – Mubuku Base

  • Begin your descent, retracing the route through Bujuku Hut to Mubuku Base Camp.

Day 8: Mubuku Base – Nyakalengija – Kasese Departure

  • Final trek back to the trailhead at Nyakalengija, passing through bamboo and montane forests.
  • Transfer to Kasese for onward travel or departure.
